Antisana, Ecuador's 4th highest peak at 18,713 ft (5,704 m), is a stunning but rarely climbed volcano due to its remote location and access restrictions. Unlike more popular climbs like Cotopaxi, Cayambe, or Chimborazo, it lacks a refugio and sits within a protected ecological reserve east of Quito. The landscapes around Antisana are some of the most striking in Ecuador, and the mountain itself is a beautiful, rugged, glaciated peak.
